As it turns out, Chuck has become my favorite male character on the show–Dan has just become too self-involved, emotionally retarded and now reminds me of too many ex-boyfriends for me to actually be able to allow myself to like him, Nate is too pretty and boring, Senor Humphrey needs to learn how to be a better father, and Bart Bass, well, he's pretty cool (in more than one way)–and even though he is sort of a womanizer, he's also the person on the show who has turned out to be the most interesting. The promo completely captures the essence of what makes him such a love to hate character and the fact that it's set to a Britney Spears attempt at a comeback takes it to a whole new level of low brow pop culture. Even though it'd probably be a mistake to date any real-life Chuck Bass' I would still totally do it. And, if it were in any way possible for me to fictionalize myself and become a GG character, I would fight Blair to the death for him.

Damn that Mother Chucker
As I've said before, I love the CW's teen dram Gossip Girl. Oh, and let's not forget that the show is based on the book series by Cecily Von Ziegesar, who, tangentially, pays most of my bills. It's one of the only shows that I can get people to come out to Astoria to watch with me, and that, if you ask me, is no small feat and should illustrate how well the show speaks to my (and I'm sure younger) generations. Also, whoever is in charge of the promos for this show is brilliant and deserves an immediate raise because this ad, which has run during the show's commercial breaks for the past few weeks, is actually pretty perfect.
