Thanksgiving Top 10

Truth be told, I think my Thanksgiving this year was the best yet, and here's a list (in no particular order) of reasons why:

1. Potomac, Maryland is really just a lovely place.  It's like a slightly flatter New England and all the houses are very picturesque.  Plus, it's a short drive into Georgetown/DC where there's loads of shopping/eating/history site-seeing to be done.

2. I made my first pecan pie(s) and they were a huge hit, even though no one actually remembers eating them at Thanksgiving dinner.

3. The whole family being so drunk off of pumpkin-flavored cocktails, Scotch and wine that most of the Thanksgiving meal is a blur if not entirely forgotten.

4.  Katelyn's entire family being the most fucking awesome people ever.  The only things that are really encouraged in their house are being funny, attractive, smart, level-headed and sarcastic.  Also, I think it's really cute that Katelyn's mom doesn't allow the following words to be used in her house: thong, douchebag.  Everything else is pretty much up for grabs.

5.  Boone, the long-haried daschund who is only happy when he's sitting in someone's lap.  Also, he has a tendency to get so excited that he pees himself.  It's simultaneously gross and endearing.

6. Rick planning a GNO and deciding the only proper way to arrive at a nice restaurant with 8 "hot bitches" is to rent a limo and stock it with bottles of Moet.  Mmm, champagne.

7.  Realizing and not being at all upset that I suck at Rock Band even if I am just playing bass on the easiest setting.

8. Feeling like I'm part of a family with siblings.  Seriously, and she might be embarrassed that I'm blogging about this but oh well, the younger (but eldest) brother ran out of his room one afternoon and mooned the entire family room.  I've wanted to experience stuff like that since I was three.

9.  Katelyn's parents buying us seasons 1 & 3 of The Simple Life and us sitting around for two days watching it basically non-stop.  Reminded me SO much of college.  Loves it.

10.  Having your bff's parents say that they "like you" and think you're "really pretty."  I like that kind of affirmation.
